On October 12-13, the Russian Kendo championships will be held in Kazan at the Palace of martial arts "Ak Bars". Athletes from 23 regions of the country will take part in competitions.
The championships include the juniors (15 to 17 years) competitions, as well as the individual and team competitions for men and women.
The winners of the men's team competition will be awarded the challenge cup “A Peaceful Heart”, established by the Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto. In women's team competitions the main prize will be the challenge cup named after the first President of the Russian Kendo Federation N.P.Yakovlev.
According to the results of the championships, candidates for the Russian national Kendo team (men's, women's and junior) will be qualified for the participation in the European championships, which will be held in Norway in April 2020.
The opening ceremony of the Russian Kendo championships will be held on October 12 at 9.00 at the Palace of martial arts “Ak Bars”.
Kendo is modern Japanese fencing based on samurai sword techniques. This sport has been actively developing in Kazan since 2001. Athletes of the Kazan club compete for the national team of Russia, they have become the prize-winners and Champions of the competitions held both in our country and abroad.
